About
Dryrun sells cash-flow forecasting and scenario modelling to finance teams and to the accounting firms that advise them. Its pitch is that compliance and tax work — the services that traditionally carried a firm's revenue — are being automated away, and that business advisory is the replacement, but that advisors need a tool to deliver it weekly rather than annually. The product answers two questions on a recurring basis: how long can a client stay afloat, and how do they grow. Blaine Bertsch co-founded it in 2016 with Tariq Bacchus, who is CTO. Bertsch holds a Master of Design and had run a creative agency through the 2008 recession, which is the experience he credits for the company. Dryrun demoed on the TechTO stage in March 2021 in the Intuit Prosperity Accelerator's first cohort, where the insights panel it showed had been built inside the programme. The company has also come through the Intuit $100K App Showdown and the AICPA/CPA.com accelerator, and in 2022 received $250,000 in federal innovation funding from Prairies Economic Development Canada.
Backers
Taproot Edmonton reported in May 2022 that the company had grown to nine employees with support from the venture firm Sprout.vc, alongside $250,000 of federal innovation funding. No round sizes are disclosed publicly.
