About
The company describes itself as founded by a former retailer, and the problem it works on is one its founder ran into from the tenant's side. Sean Snyder built one of North America's largest retail gift-card marketing companies before joining Stitch It Clothing Alterations, which had 85 shopping-centre locations across North America, as sales and marketing director. Distributing marketing and recruitment campaigns to 85 separate centres, each with its own contacts, formats and calendars, was the bottleneck — and, as Engagement Agents' own story page puts it, tenants pay for those centres' digital and physical retail media networks daily through gross rent and variable charges whether they use them or not. The platform's pitch is to reclaim that spend: engage the channels the lease already funds, drive traffic and sales in-store and online, and give a chain a way to optimise or reduce lease obligations with evidence of what the marketing actually returned. Stitch It became the first customer.

Quick answers
What does Engagement Agents do?
It lets retail chains use the marketing channels their shopping-centre leases already pay for — the centres' digital and physical retail media networks — across every location at once, instead of store by store.
Why does that need a platform?
Because the spend is already committed and mostly unused. A chain pays into each centre's marketing through gross rent and variable charges, and coordinating campaigns across dozens of centres individually is the practical barrier.
Who founded it?
Sean Snyder, its founder and president. He previously built a large North American retail gift-card marketing business and was sales and marketing director at Stitch It Clothing Alterations, which became the platform's first customer.
Who from Engagement Agents is in this directory?
Sean Snyder, who presented at a TechToronto meetup in November 2014 — then running the peer-to-peer fashion marketplace Trend Trunk.
