About
Fiix let drivers book maintenance and repairs to their own driveway through an app. It joined Y Combinator's winter 2017 class after winning a place in the YC Fellowship, raised $1.9 million that year, and by 2019 served 8,000 customers across more than 20 cities in the Toronto area, including contracts servicing Uber and Car2Go vehicles. US competitor Wrench acquired it in 2019; co-founder Zain Manji said expanding city by city would have taken capital the company chose not to raise. Co-founder Khallil Mangalji spoke at TechTO in October 2016.

Quick answers
What was Fiix?
A Toronto on-demand car-maintenance service. You booked through an app and a mechanic came to your driveway rather than you going to a garage.
What happened to Fiix?
US company Wrench, which runs the same at-home model, acquired it in 2019. Scaling city by city would have needed capital the founders opted not to raise.
Is this the same company as Fiix Software?
No. Fiix Software is a separate Toronto company that makes maintenance-management (CMMS) software and was acquired by Rockwell Automation in 2020. The two are unrelated.
