About
Float began with an expense report. Nikolaev and Keglevich were interns at Shopify and Uber, asked to organise a company event and pay for it on their own cards, and built a product called Journal out of the University of Waterloo's Velocity incubator in response. Rob Khazzam met them in 2021 after five years at Uber, where he had filed a €150,000 expense report of his own while distributing tens of thousands of iPhones to drivers across Eastern Europe, and joined as co-founder and CEO. The product has since widened from corporate cards into a full business finance stack. Tiger Global led a US$30-million round in November 2021; Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives led the $70-million CAD Series B announced in January 2025.
