About

Matt Golden founded Golden Ventures in Toronto in 2011 and has run it as managing partner since. The fund writes seed cheques, putting roughly 60 percent of its capital into the Toronto–Kitchener–Waterloo corridor and the rest into US hubs including the Bay Area, New York and Boston. Early exits from Wattpad and SkipTheDishes funded a step up in fund size: Fund V closed at nearly $140 million CAD in 2024, roughly matching the $100-million fourth fund. Golden took the TechTO Together stage in June 2025 to interview Brad Feld about Give First and about building in Canada.
