About
Hepzibah's technology has a long lineage, and the company says so itself: it builds on Computational RAM, research its co-founder and chief executive Martin Snelgrove began in the late 1980s while teaching at the University of Toronto, originally for graphics and digital signal processing. That idea — do the arithmetic where the data already sits, rather than shuttling it to a separate compute unit — was rebranded at-memory compute at Untether AI and is now aimed at modern AI inference and light training workloads, including distillation, with supercomputer-style on-chip networking. The commercial model is the departure: instead of fabricating and selling accelerators, Hepzibah licenses application-specific IP and core designs with a white-glove service model, so a chipmaker can put the architecture inside its own SoC. The founding team is the Untether one — Snelgrove as CEO, David Lynch as a board director, Taneem Ahmed as vice-president of software, and Raymond Chik as chair and hardware lead — each of whom the company lists as a multiple-time chip founder.

Quick answers
What does Hepzibah do?
It designs at-memory AI compute architecture and licenses it as IP and core designs to chipmakers, rather than manufacturing and selling chips of its own.
Where does the technology come from?
Computational RAM, research co-founder and CEO Martin Snelgrove started in the late 1980s at the University of Toronto. Untether AI later commercialised the same idea as at-memory compute; Hepzibah takes it further, adding light training workloads and on-chip networking.
Who founded it?
Four Untether AI veterans: Martin Snelgrove (CEO), David Lynch (board director), Taneem Ahmed (VP of software) and Raymond Chik (chair and hardware lead).
Who from Hepzibah is in this directory?
Raymond Chik, its co-founder and board chair, who spoke at TechTO in May 2023 and appeared on TechTO's Founder Journey in July 2023 — both times about Untether AI.
