About
HeyBryan began as a personal frustration. Lance Montgomery — fifteen years in Fortune 500 companies, two large digital agencies, several app builds and two companies taken public — came home to a broken dishwasher, searched for a repair person, and found the same scattered mess of Google results, Facebook groups and asking neighbours that everyone else finds. He told the TechVancouver stage in January 2019 that this was where the idea came from, about a year and five months earlier. The product was a marketplace app: homeowners booked screened and background-checked 'Experts' who set their own rates and schedules, with booking and payment handled in the app. HGTV contractor Bryan Baeumler backed the company and lent his name; the app launched in Vancouver in November 2018, reached Toronto in March 2019 and Calgary later that year. HeyBryan Media began trading on the Canadian Securities Exchange on 3 October 2019 under the symbol HEY. In November 2020 the exchange gave the securities an inactive designation for not meeting continued listing requirements, Montgomery resigned as president and CEO, and the company entered a settlement agreement with Baeumler and Baeumler Productions. It changed its name to Fasttask Technologies Inc. effective 10 December 2020, consolidating five old shares into one.
Backers
Publicly listed from October 2019 on the Canadian Securities Exchange rather than venture-funded; HGTV's Bryan Baeumler backed the company and licensed his name before a settlement agreement in November 2020.
