About
Lighthouse Labs was a Canadian technology education company founded in 2013 by Jeremy Shaki, Khurram Virani and Josh Borts. It started in Vancouver and grew into the country's largest coding bootcamp, running full-time and flexible programs in web development, data and cybersecurity across six cities, and bootstrapped to roughly $10 million in revenue with 70 employees by 2020 and about $30 million by 2023. It also ran The HTML500, a free mass introduction to coding. The market that made it turned: entry-level tech hiring collapsed after the 2022-23 layoffs and AI took more of the junior work. Shaki, who ran the company as CEO, sold it to workforce training platform Uvaro in early 2025 and became Uvaro's chief revenue officer; roughly two months later both companies ceased operations, and Uvaro Inc. and Lighthouse Labs Inc. filed assignments into bankruptcy on August 1, 2025.
Backers
Lighthouse Labs was bootstrapped rather than venture-backed, reaching roughly $10 million in revenue without outside capital. Uvaro acquired it in early 2025.
