Marketing Spark

Marketing Spark is Mark Evans's Toronto fractional-CMO practice. It rebuilds positioning, messaging, website and content strategy for founder-led B2B companies — the ones between roughly $5M and $20M whose referrals have run out and whose story no longer matches the business.

About

Mark Evans started Marketing Spark in 2012 after fifteen years as a technology reporter at the National Post, The Globe and Mail and Bloomberg News, and a stint co-founding the startup Blanketware. The reporting is the method: the practice's argument is that most founder-led B2B companies lose deals not on capability but on story — the buyer picks the clearer pitch, referrals stop scaling, and the website, LinkedIn page and deck fall behind what the business has actually become. Engagements are fractional-CMO work: positioning, messaging, website and content strategy rebuilt around where the company is going rather than where it started. Around that sits a set of free tools and channels — a marketing audit that scores homepage positioning, the Marketing Spark podcast of conversations with B2B founders and marketers, a weekly newsletter, a fractional-CMO guide, and a Chrome extension for LinkedIn networking.
