About
MobyTrip set out to replace the guidebook: a traveller answered a few questions and the app assembled a full itinerary from sources such as TripAdvisor and Foursquare, which a group could edit together and share. It pitched on The Disruptors in 2016, where Biz Stone called it a fit for a niche audience, and added Facebook and Slack bots that returned a pre-filled itinerary. On TechTO's TravelTechTO stage in July 2017, founder Misha Plotkine said the team had started about three years earlier, launched in August 2016, and then found the ranking technology more viable than the consumer product, so the company repositioned to sit between Google AdWords and travel sellers, helping hotel and flight advertisers place ads and bid on keywords. What happened after 2017 is not published; mobytrip.com still serves a destination-search homepage with a 2026 copyright but names no team.

Quick answers
What does MobyTrip do?
It began as a trip-planning app that generated a full, shareable itinerary from a traveller's answers plus public data (TripAdvisor, Foursquare), launched in August 2016. By July 2017 the company had pivoted to a machine-learning system for placing and bidding on travel search ads, as its founder said on the TechTO TravelTechTO stage.
Who founded MobyTrip?
Misha Plotkine, a 2010 Queen's Commerce graduate; Digital Trends (2016-08-15) also names Anatoli Plotkine as a co-founder. The founding year, about 2014, comes from Plotkine's own statement on stage in July 2017 that the company started 'three years ago'.
Is MobyTrip still active?
Unclear. mobytrip.com still serves a destination-search homepage with a 2026 copyright, but its about and terms pages return 404, it names no team, and no press after 2017 was found.
