About
Monogram builds tactile control surfaces for creative professionals — snap-together modules that map to brightness, contrast, colour and other software controls so editors stop reaching for a mouse. The first generation, Palette Gear, came out of a fourth-year Waterloo mechatronics capstone, raised over $150,000 on Kickstarter in 2013, and won $25,000 at the Velocity Fund Finals in 2014. The second-generation Creative Console shipped in 2019 under the Monogram name.

Is Monogram the same company as Palette Gear?
Yes. Palette Gear was the first-generation product, launched on Kickstarter in 2013. The company rebranded to Monogram when the second-generation Creative Console shipped in 2019.
Where is Monogram based?
Downtown Kitchener, Ontario. Calvin Chu told the TechWaterloo audience in 2016 that they chose to stay in Waterloo Region rather than move to San Francisco and to spend the rent savings on flights.
