About

Newtopia is a tech-enabled habit change provider based in Toronto, focused on preventing the progression of chronic disease. Its programme combines genetic and behavioural assessment with one-to-one human coaching, matching participants to a coach and working on sustained behaviour change rather than short-term intervention; the company has positioned 'habit change provider' as a category of its own in employer and payer health benefits. Founder and CEO Jeff Ruby started it in 2008 after cancer took his father's life. Before Newtopia he co-founded and was COO of Cleveland Clinic Canada, a collaboration between the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Canyon Ranch; co-founder and COO of Life Screening Centers, a cancer screening and prevention company; and co-founder and head of operations of Genetic Diagnostics, an early-stage biotech commercializing a genetic diagnostic testing platform. He holds a joint JD/MBA from York University's Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business. Newtopia is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange (NEWU) and quoted in the US on the OTCQB (NEWUF). Ruby presented at TechTO in January 2016 at Toronto City Hall's Council Chambers.
