Shiva Bhardwaj founded Pitstop in 2015, out of growing up in his father's Toronto service centres, where a shop lost all contact with a car the moment it drove away. The product plugs an onboard diagnostics device into the vehicle, streams engine data over Bluetooth to an app, and applies learned patterns to say what is likely to fail. When Bhardwaj demoed it at TechWaterloo in October 2016 it had launched that February, ran on ten dealerships and about 1,200 connected vehicles, and claimed over 85% accuracy on powertrain and emissions faults. The company later focused on commercial fleets, took investment from Sensata, Verizon, Ripple Ventures and BDC, and was acquired by shop-management software company Fullbay in March 2026, with Bhardwaj staying on as chief executive.
