Rent Frock Repeat rented designer dresses by mail, one of the first Canadian businesses to make the collaborative-consumption model work in fashion. Lisa Delorme told the TechTO stage in December 2014 that it began in her basement in May 2011 and by then had over 54,000 members nationally; her talk was about growing through partnerships rather than paid acquisition. The company appeared on CBC's Dragons' Den and raised roughly $1.15 million, backed by Canadian women angel investors. Its Bay Street location closed more than a year before the business wound down; the founders announced the end in 2020, and Toronto subscription service The Sprout Collection took over the clothing inventory and other assets.
