Rover Labs was a Toronto marketing-technology company founded in 2014 by John Coombs and Sean Rucker. Its platform let enterprise marketers deliver proximity-based content to users inside their own mobile apps, using iBeacon and GPS to detect where a shopper or fan was. Coombs described deployments with NHL and NBA teams — building in-arena fan experiences at the Air Canada Centre — and with large retailers. The company's site is now parked and offered for sale, and it appears to have wound down.
