About

Rafat Ali built paidContent into a digital-media trade publication and sold it to the Guardian, then founded Skift in 2012 with Jason Clampet to do the same job for travel — a sector with enormous revenue and, at the time, little serious trade coverage. Skift describes itself as "the daily homepage for the world's largest industry", and has grown well past a news site: it runs Skift Research, the Skift Global Forum and a slate of sector conferences, and owns Airline Weekly, Daily Lodging Report and Skift Meetings. Ali was named one of travel's most influential leaders in 2022 and is a distinguished alumnus of Indiana University's Media School. He joined TechTO in May 2020 for a session on COVID-19's impact on travel, at the point when the industry had effectively stopped.
