About

Storycraft is part social network, part creative tool and part game. Players build characters, places and story worlds with generative AI as the collaborator, then play through them together and trade and show off what they have made in a shared universe. The studio's own description is "craft & play any story" — an ever-growing collection of playable places with AI-driven mechanics, open to people with no design or technical background. Andy Mauro founded it in Montreal after two decades of applied conversational AI: Nina, the enterprise voice assistant he built at Nuance, and then Automat, the Montreal conversational-commerce company he co-founded and sold in 2021. Storycraft raised a US$3M seed led by Khosla Ventures with London Venture Partners and SignalFire taking part; SignalFire had led an earlier US$2M pre-seed.

Backers

Khosla Ventures led the US$3M seed, with London Venture Partners and SignalFire participating. SignalFire led the earlier US$2M pre-seed.
