About
Founded in 2014, Tab (Tab Payments) built an iPhone and Android wallet for restaurant checkout — check in, choose who you're paying for, and tap to settle the bill and tip. Restaurants paid processing fees below traditional terminals while diners used it free. By its March 2015 TechTO talk it was live in just under 100 top restaurants in Toronto and Montreal. Velocity Mobile acquired the company in October 2015, and co-founder Adam Epstein went on to lead Velocity's Canadian operations before founding Gigi.
