About
The Farmer's Dog makes fresh dog food to human-grade standards and delivers it on subscription in pre-portioned packs sized to the individual animal. The origin story is a friend's sick dog: Jonathan Regev was staying on a friend's couch in New York while the friend, having tried 20 or 30 commercial foods for his 80-pound dog, started cooking beef, liver and sweet potato for her — and her health problems stopped the same day. Regev, who had launched an e-commerce business in Asia for Rocket Internet's incubator and absorbed its discipline about unit economics, co-founded the company with that friend, Brett Podolsky, and runs it as CEO. It raised $8.1 million in 2017 and a $39-million Series B led by Insight Partners in 2019. Shasta Ventures led the Series A, and Regev appeared on TechTO's Founders & Funding in September 2020 alongside Nikhil Basu Trivedi, the Shasta investor who led that round.
Backers
Shasta Ventures led the Series A, with Insight Partners leading a $39M Series B in 2019. Reported totals put the company above $100M raised across four rounds.
