About
The Little Campus is a daycare built by someone who could not find one she wanted. Tami Zuckerman went looking for care for her two-and-a-half-year-old son in Etobicoke, found a shortage of the quality she was after, and opened a centre instead — while pregnant with her second child.
The programme is organized around what the centre calls the Whole Child Approach: the argument that a child's emotions, relationships, body and imagination are not separable from how they learn. Five pillars — safe, engaged, healthy, challenged, supported — sit under it, and specialist educators lead enriched programming in STEAM, music, physical education and early literacy, with outdoor green space. Care is individualized and responsive; the centre's own line is that no child is ever left to cry it out.
Zuckerman is a trained teacher, B.Ed., and is the centre's president and founder. She co-founded VarageSale in 2012 as a Montreal kindergarten teacher on maternity leave — it raised US$34 million from Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed before VerticalScope acquired it in 2017 — and spoke at TechTO in November 2015 on building a scalable startup culture.
