About
General Assembly teaches practitioner-taught courses in coding, data science, user experience design and digital marketing, selling both to individuals and to employers retraining their own staff. It was founded in 2011 by Jake Schwartz, Adam Pritzker, Matthew Brimer and Brad Hargreaves, and ran campuses in cities including Toronto. In April 2018 the Adecco Group acquired it for US$412.5M and folded it in alongside Lee Hecht Harrison, now LHH, where it still sits. Edward Nevraumont spoke for the company at TechTO in October 2018 with a contrarian talk on data-driven decision-making, arguing that companies claim the label without earning it and that the most senior people in an organisation are usually the ones allowed to ignore the data.
