About

Direct indexing — owning the individual stocks in an index rather than a fund that holds them, so losses can be harvested for tax — has historically been sold to clients with large accounts, because building and rebalancing the thing is expensive. Tilt's pitch is that the cost floor was a software problem. Advisors, TAMPs and RIAs describe a theme in language; an embedding engine that continuously ingests and scores documents, from SEC filings to news and social posts, turns it into a weighted index; and the platform runs the rebalancing and tax optimisation underneath, priced from three basis points with zero minimums. The company launched the platform behind a waitlist on 22 September 2025 at Portage's Confluence event, alongside a US$7.1 million seed round co-led by Portage and Lerer Hippeau with Golden Ventures, Real Ventures, Cumberland Investments and FJ Labs participating. Founder and chief executive Andrew Peek co-founded Delphia, the Toronto collective that pooled members' data behind an investing algorithm, and before that Jet Cooper, which Shopify bought in 2013. Canadian trade press describes the company as Toronto-based; its funding announcement was issued from Miami, where Refresh Miami covered it as a local company.
