About
Toast was built to flip the hiring dynamic, in McNeelands' phrasing, in favour of women — helping members do the work they want for the pay they deserve, with a community behind them. In practice that is two businesses joined at the hip: a paid membership community where women in tech meet each other and get practical help on job hunts, salary and severance negotiation and contract paperwork, and a partnership side that works with companies committed to gender diversity on technical teams. McNeelands told TechTO Talent in February 2023 that Toast had about 30 partner companies. It has since grown past 70 partner organizations, expanded into New York, Los Angeles and Chicago in 2024, and runs the Toast Summit and, with BetaKit, an annual top women in tech list.

No. This Toast is a Canadian women-in-tech collective at trytoast.ca. The publicly traded restaurant point-of-sale company is a separate American business.
