Trusty

Trusty is a Toronto estate-planning app from Uberflip co-founder Randy Frisch. It sits beside the legal documents, using AI to catalogue a family's possessions from photos and record why things were left to whom — the context a will does not carry. It raised $1 million CAD in 2025.

About

Randy Frisch co-founded Uberflip in Toronto in 2012 and spent a decade as its president and chief marketing officer, arguing that business-to-business marketing's problem was the experience around content rather than the volume of it; PathFactory acquired the company in 2024. Trusty is what he built next, and the premise is that legal documents record decisions without explaining them. The product uses image recognition to identify valuables from photographs, document analysis to make sense of the paperwork, and a conversational assistant to help someone say who should get what and why, including recorded video messages. It now sells primarily through wealth and estate advisers as a client "Estate Binder" that extends their advice between meetings. The $1-million CAD pre-seed closed in May 2025 and was announced that July, co-led by Relay Ventures and Graphite Ventures with Ottawa's Mistral Venture Partners and angels.

Backers

Relay Ventures and Graphite Ventures co-led the $1-million CAD pre-seed, with Mistral Venture Partners and undisclosed angel investors.
