About

Vaza started as an argument. Co-founder Adel Rahman told the TechTO stage in October 2026 that he and his friends, all soccer players, could never settle Messi versus Ronaldo, and that the conviction people bring to those debates became the product. On Vaza a debate runs for minutes, hours or days; users pick a side, vote free or put up to $100 behind the vote, and when the timer ends the winning side is paid from the losing side. Rahman said there are no odds, no future events and no house, so the company does not consider itself gambling, though he acknowledged regulators may try to fit it into an existing category. The app has a main event mode, a bracket mode for tournaments and a creator mode where users build their own matchups and earn a share of the volume. Growth came from creators and pages with existing audiences hosting debates, including a rap bracket with XXL. Rahman said the company is headquartered in Toronto with a presence in San Francisco, had 450,000 users and about $24.9 million in volume 11 months after launch, and had taken investment from an unnamed San Francisco consumer-app investor. A mobile app release was next.

Quick answers

What is Vaza?

A consumer app where users pick a side in a debate, vote free or stake up to $100, and the winning side is paid from the losing side. Its site calls it the world's first monetized opinion market (vaza.vote, read 2026-10-19).

Is Vaza gambling?

Co-founder Adel Rahman said on the TechTO stage in October 2026 that there are no odds, no future events and no house, that the company has legal opinions supporting a new classification, and that it could be treated as a game of skill (2:38 and 9:50). That is the company's position; no regulator's ruling is cited here.

How big is Vaza?

Rahman said 450,000 users and about $24.9 million in volume about 11 months after launch, with headquarters in Toronto and a presence in San Francisco (TechTO stage, October 2026, 4:03 and 8:14). The figures are his own.
