About
WealthBar combined automated portfolio management with an actual financial planner, aimed at Canadians who wanted advice without a traditional advisory minimum. Tea Nicola ran it as CEO and Chris Nicola as CTO. CI Financial acquired a majority stake in January 2019, bought the remaining shares in May 2020, and merged the service with its Virtual Brokers arm under the CI Direct Investing name. Both founders left at the end of December 2020.
