About
Josh Domingues started Flashfood in 2016 after his sister, a chef, was told to throw out $4,000 of good food. The app lists food a grocer would otherwise discard — produce, meat, bakery — at roughly half price, and the shopper collects it from a fridge in the store. On the RetailTO stage in 2019 Domingues walked through the direct-to-consumer detour that, in his words, almost ended the company. He moved to Executive Chairman in January 2024 when Nicholas Bertram became CEO.

Quick answers
What does Flashfood do?
It sells grocery stores' near-expiry food at a discount through an app, so the food is bought rather than thrown out. Shoppers pay in the app and collect from a dedicated fridge in the store.
