About
Halp started in 2019 selling coaching directly to international students, on the argument that the agents students normally use are paid by the schools they recommend. The product paired a web app with a one-to-one human coach covering program choice, applications, financing and study visas across Canada, the US, Australia and the UK. Lerer Hippeau and Serena Williams' Serena Ventures led a $5.5M CAD seed in October 2022, with N49P, Shed Capital, Gambit Partners and angels joining. That is the business Marc Fielding presented at TechTO Together in 2023, where he described losing weeks to the federal strike that shut down Canada's immigration system, and building a verification process once the team could not tell which of its applicants were serious. The company has since changed direction entirely. As of August 2026 halp.co carries no study-abroad product at all: it presents an AI report-drafting assistant for building engineers under the line "Modernizing Building assessments", marked "launching soon", and the same team ships an AEC report-writing tool as Applied Reports, whose customers log in at reportbolt.halp.co.
