About
Ivey Executive Education is the part of Western University's Ivey Business School that teaches people who are not doing a degree: open-enrolment courses, custom corporate programs, coaching and facilitation. It operated as The Ivey Academy before reverting to the Ivey Executive Education name, and teaches from the Richard Ivey Building and Spencer conference centre in London, Ontario, the Donald K. Johnson Centre on King Street West in Toronto, and Ivey Asia in Hong Kong. It says it has ranked first in Canada in eighteen of the last twenty Financial Times rankings of executive education providers, and among the top twenty globally. Executive director Mark Healy brought the P&L view to TechTO's MarketingTO in February 2020 with a warning about influencer marketing. His framing: the North American economy is at war with itself — 'income statement' companies still trying to deliver profits, which nobody writes about, against 'balance sheet' companies that raise a great deal of money and chase engagement in the hope that money follows. You can buy advertising with engagement, he told the room; you cannot buy bread with it.
Backers
Not a company and not venture-backed. It is a unit of the Ivey Business School at Western University.
Quick answers
What is Ivey Executive Education?
The non-degree executive development arm of the Ivey Business School at Western University, running open-enrolment courses, custom corporate programs, coaching and facilitation from London and Toronto in Ontario and from Hong Kong.
Was it called The Ivey Academy?
Yes. Its own about page describes the unit as 'Ivey Executive Education (formerly The Ivey Academy)'. Mark Healy spoke at TechTO in February 2020 under the Ivey Academy name.
What did Mark Healy say about influencer marketing?
He argued that marketers who carry a P&L cannot pay for results with engagement — 'you can buy advertising with engagement, you can't buy bread with engagement' — and set that against what he called a civil war between income-statement companies and balance-sheet companies.
