Jet Cooper opened in Toronto in May 2009 and built web and mobile products for clients including Cineplex, Sobeys, TELUS, Metro News, Kik and TEDxToronto, working out of a studio near Spadina and Dundas. Shopify announced the acquisition on 1 August 2013, describing the firm as Canada's leading design and user-experience agency; co-founder and chief executive Satish Kanwar joined with a team of more than 25 designers and developers, and the group became Shopify's Toronto operation, with Kanwar running it. Andrew Peek, who was at Jet Cooper through the sale, told the TechTO stage in April 2016 how the studio and its product spin-off went to Shopify, and used the story to make a point about how long product-market fit actually takes. The Jet Cooper name is no longer used for an operating business and jetcooper.com now redirects to a social profile rather than a company site.
