About
Loverboy makes ready-to-drink sparkling hard teas and canned cocktails positioned on a readable ingredient list — zero sugar, about 90 calories a can. Kyle Cooke founded it in 2018 and the brand grew alongside his role on Bravo's Summer House, which gave it national television exposure that trade press credited for a step-change in growth in 2020 and 2021. Forbes reported about US$16M of sales in 2022 and roughly US$38M cumulative by September 2023. Carl Radke, who worked in sales and business development at Loverboy and also appeared on the show, joined TechTO's retail community in September 2020, hosted by Sampler co-founder Marie Chevrier, to talk through the founding story and what a brand story is actually worth in a crowded alcohol aisle.
Backers
Kyle Cooke has said he started the brand with roughly US$100,000 of his own money. Later outside investment is reported on funding aggregators but is not confirmed here by a primary source.
