MemberNova is the association-facing half of a business that started with Rotary clubs. Adel Asterbadi, a Rotarian and former IBM executive, founded ClubRunner in Oakville, Ontario in 2001 to run club administration online; MemberNova is the platform built alongside it for professional bodies, trade associations and multi-chapter organisations. The company is now run by his daughters Sarah and Halle Asterbadi, who are co-founders. The product pulls the pieces an association usually buys separately into one system — member management and directories, chapter administration, event registration, dues and e-commerce, email campaigns, a website builder and analytics — with automation for the repetitive parts, such as onboarding and renewals. The company says it works with close to 5,000 membership organisations. Dalia Asterbadi, who presented at TechTO in 2017 for her AI company Verve.ai, is its philanthropy and innovation officer.
