Julia Kirouac found raw vegan food while dancing ballet in California, and turned to it seriously after an injury ended that career. She came back to Canada and started nud fud — pronounced nude food — to make snacks whose ingredient list she was willing to publish in full: organic, raw, vegan, paleo, grain-free, tree-nut-free, sugar-free and non-GMO. The product line runs from sweet potato and flax crackers to banana crisps, bites and a raw granola alternative, sold direct and through grocery and health retailers. The unusual choice is manufacturing: Kirouac built her own facility rather than using a co-packer, which cost her flexibility on price and bought her flexibility on everything else. She won the inaugural W. Galen Weston Top Entrepreneur Award at NEXT Canada's Venture Day in August 2019. Her TechTO talk in May 2026 was the unvarnished version of the CPG economics — margins, trade spend, listing fees, and the gap between what shoppers say they want and what they buy — and she used it to introduce a second brand, Wild Ones Organics, a baby and toddler line launching into Walmart in the first quarter of 2027.

No outside investment is on the public record. Kirouac self-manufactures and has described the company as independently owned; her second brand, Wild Ones Organics, runs through the same facility.

What does nud fud make?
Organic raw snacks — crackers, bites and a granola alternative — that are vegan, paleo, grain-free, tree-nut-free, sugar-free and non-GMO. Everything is made by hand in the company's own dedicated Toronto facility rather than by a contract manufacturer.
