About

Reactiv was built on a problem its founders saw while building mobile apps for brands: a store's app produced a meaningful share of revenue, but almost nobody wanted to install one. Its answer is Apple's App Clip, a lightweight version of an app that opens from a URL, ad, email or QR code without a trip to the App Store, and that lets the brand send push notifications for eight hours without an opt-in, as CEO Ross Correia explained on the TechTO stage in October 2026. The company also builds full iOS and Android apps for Shopify brands. Correia said the founders started in September 2023, hired eight engineers before raising, and got their first break in March 2024 when a competitor's data breach sent a former client to them at 11:30 at night; Reactiv went from zero to about $100,000 in ARR within a week. Fortune reported in October 2024 that the company came out of stealth with a $5 million seed round led by Bonfire Ventures. Correia said about 35 employees, almost all in Toronto, more than half of them ex-Shopify, and named Indigo, Steve Madden, Chanel and NBA teams among its customers. An investor introduction got the team to Apple in Cupertino; he said Apple has since helped launch App Clips at arena events.
