About
TourRadar aggregates multi-day organised tours from operators worldwide and sells them online. Its origin is a different company: in 2004 the Pittman brothers built Bugbitten, a photo-sharing and travel-journal site that became the default platform for Australians and New Zealanders living in London. Travis Pittman told TravelTechTO in February 2018 that it reached 20,000 photo uploads a day with no way to make money from them, and that when they looked at where the photos were coming from, the answer was tours. "We saw the hotels, the flights, the car hire industries all digitizing, so all going online," he said, "but the multi-day touring was always done through a travel agent" — you walked in, sat down, built trust, and booked a $5,000 holiday. TourRadar was founded in 2010 to aggregate that inventory instead, and now describes itself as the leading organised adventure platform, with more than 50,000 adventures in over 160 countries and a team spanning 45+ nationalities.
