About

Wrapbook came out of a deliberate search for a broken industry. Co-founder Naysawn Naji told the TechTO stage in May 2022 that he set out to find repeating patterns of pain in a business he knew nothing about, landed on production, and found people onboarding from scratch with five different employers in a month with no idea when they would be paid. The company reached the view that it could be the system of record for the whole project economy.

Quick answers

What does Wrapbook do?

It handles payroll, onboarding, insurance and compliance for production companies hiring cast and crew — the paperwork of an industry where the employer on paper changes with every project.

Who founded Wrapbook?

Ali Javid, Cameron Woodward, Naysawn Naji and Hesham El-Nahhas, in 2018. Naji and El-Nahhas left in 2022. The company has offices in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.

Does Wrapbook run payroll outside the US?

No. Naji told TechTO in 2022 that compliant multi-country payroll is a very hard problem and the product services the US only, even though the company employs people in both Canada and the US.
