About

Elastic Path was founded in Vancouver in 2000 by Mark Williams, Jason Billingsley, Harry Chemko, Dave Koo and Ryan Orr, starting on a $15,000 loan from a non-profit lender. It sells commerce software to enterprises that want to control their own customer experience: catalogue, cart, promotions and checkout exposed as APIs, so the storefront can be anything the brand builds. It ran the online store for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, launched a Commerce Everywhere platform in 2013, and has raised about $153 million from investors including Sageview Capital, BDC and Yaletown Partners. Peter Lukomskyj was one of four executives running a roughly hundred-person Vancouver team when he took the TechVancouver stage in November 2016 — his talk was about stripping unnecessary complexity out of internal communication, drawn from twenty years in startups and a stint at a 2,000-person British company with staff in nine countries.

Backers

Sageview Capital, BDC and Yaletown Partners are named across funding coverage, including a $43 million round reported by BetaKit. Total raised is reported as roughly $153 million.
