About

Tyler and Braden Handley started inkbox in Toronto in 2015. Most of its revenue came from an artist marketplace — 10,000+ designs from 700+ artists — and the company opened a physical tattoo shop to earn standing with permanent-tattoo artists. It reached roughly $27M in net sales in 2021 and sold to BIC in January 2022 for $65M upfront plus performance-linked consideration. In December 2025 BIC announced it would close the Skin Creative division holding inkbox; the founders bid to buy the brand back in January 2026.

Backers

Raised roughly $14.4M across three rounds before the BIC acquisition, including Maveron and individual backer Jeff Probst
