Sensibill

Sensibill was a Toronto fintech that pulled itemized receipt data into banking apps, so a customer could click a transaction and see line-item detail instead of a merchant name and a total. Founded in 2013 by Corey Gross and Jamie Alexander, it was acquired by Q2 Holdings in October 2022.

About

Sensibill started in 2013 out of the Ryerson (now Toronto Metropolitan) DMZ and sold receipt and spend management to banks as an embedded feature rather than a consumer app — 'Intel inside for receipts', as Corey Gross put it on the TechTO stage in 2015. Over its ten-year run it partnered with 150 financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, TD and Scotiabank, plus fintechs like FreshBooks and Wave. Austin-based Q2 Holdings acquired it on October 3, 2022; the product is now sold by Q2 and Gross leads data and AI there.

It let banks show itemized receipt detail inside their own apps — click a $494 Costco charge and see what was actually bought — sold to financial institutions as an embedded feature, not a standalone consumer app.

Who founded Sensibill?

Corey Gross and Jamie Alexander, in 2013 in Toronto. Gross was CEO for the full ten-year run.

What happened to Sensibill?

Q2 Holdings, a public digital banking provider based in Austin, acquired it on October 3, 2022. The product lives on inside Q2 and Gross stayed, now leading data and AI there.
