About

Yroo was founded in Toronto in 2014 by Nick Zhu, and set out to be a search engine for shopping rather than another marketplace: it crawled products, prices and promotions across retailers and let shoppers query them in one place, later adding AI-assisted recommendations. It raised roughly $11 million and expanded to Dublin in 2016, an operation Ireland's enterprise department said would create 33 jobs. In 2018 it added senior commercial hires as it pushed for growth; Dana Toering presented at TechTO in February 2018 on growth hacking versus traditional agency work, and Michael Ross demoed the product as August 2018's demo of the month. The company is no longer active.
